My "Zen"
Zen and Offleash Photography
Zen is a way of being. It also is a state of mind. Zen involves seeing things clearly without judgement and preconceived ideas…being totally in the moment, it is being mindful.
My daily life is pretty full and hectic at times. My mind is full of questions, concerns, schedules, appointments, thoughts about my kids, my husband, my family, my dog, my friends, my clients, my patients, my coworkers…I am sure this happens to you too… different questions, same river of thoughts and worries with different themes to wake you at 3:00 am…
Everyone needs a time and place to empty the chaos, to focus on what is in front of them…for your mental and indeed physical health… For me it is going out into nature, camera in tow, observing and waiting..sitting quietly and focusing on the scene in front of me. This is my zen…
I have had some amazing experiences with some truly inspirational people that share this spiritual space…the mindful openness to what comes our way.. so, as I continue this journey of pursuing my “zen” I hope you enjoy my images and my stories!
This summer I had the most amazing trip to Katmai National Park, Alaska with a group of photographers that I now call my friends. My young mentor and friend, Aaron Baggenstos, organized, orchestrated, facilitated, educated and made it happen. With an amazing taste of good fortune, great weather, and like minds we had some incredible opportunities.. the midnite sun and rim lit bears; reflections in ponds, spring cubs and Mama bears within yards of us, and a sow and two spring cubs in a meadow of purple wildlflowers.. Bliss.
Find your zen, be it a patch of grass you can sit on and watch the world go by, a trail to run, a quiet moment with your dog on your lap.. be in that moment….
Breathe. Notice beauty. Be kind.
