Wild Horses

The Wild Horses of the Outer Banks of North Carolina are one of the oldest populations of wild mustangs in the country. They live on the barrier islands and in some cases do not get any human intervention and survive through hurricanes and very harsh conditions. The population I photographed (led by the amazing Jared Lloyd) waas isolated on the Rachel Carson National Estuarine Preserve.  From another trip, a few of these images were taken in Ecuador on the mountain known as Cotopaxi, where another unique herd resides. Amazing horses!
